Who are we?

Jess Birch – General Manager

Jess Birch has over 10 years experience in hospitality management and leads the Bedford team. Jess has a wealth of hospitality experience and is responsible for challenging her team to be the best they can be, delivering a customer experience that you won’t find anywhere else.

Phil Spector – Bar Manager

Phil Spector joined the Bedford team shortly after it opened in Feb 2014 and was mentored the founding Bar Manager of Bedford – Jason Clark. It’s no exaggeration to say that Jason has one of the best beverage brains in New Zealand and Phil was fortunate enough to be trained by one of the greats. Phil went on to win the Diagio World Class competition in 2015 and represented New Zealand in South Africa. He brings a well-balanced and considered approach to the Bedford beverage program.

Kohl Parkinson – Head Chef

Kohl has been an integral part of the Bedford kitchen team since we opened and was promoted to head chef in 2015. He has a genuine passion for what we do and is tirelessly committed to producing delicious tasty balls.

Sam Ansley, Matt Nicholls and Jeremy Wells – Owners

Sam, Matt and Jeremy are three kindred spirits who have forged a life-long bond eating meatballs, drinking yummy drinks and hanging out together. In 2013 they decided to formalise the relationship by starting Bedford Soda and Liquor.
